Be Kind to Animals Week (Part 1/7) – Raising Awareness

By Shannon Sullivan

American Humane’s Be Kind to Animals Week has been celebrated nationally since 1915. In observance of this special week, May 5-11, Amazon CARES is running a seven part blog series addressing the major ways our organization is kind to animals.

Raising awareness about the dogs and cats living in the Amazon Basin of Peru is one way that Amazon CARES is kind to animals. Since being founded by director Molly Mednikow in 2004, the team at Amazon CARES has worked tirelessly to inform the world about these dogs and cats in need. Along with the Amazon CARES website, blog, and social media sites, awareness has been raised in the press.

The achievements of Amazon CARES, along with the stories of the animals we help, have been featured in magazines such as Fido Friendly and the Humane Society’s Animal Sheltering. Our work has been the topic of discussion in newspapers, blogs, and a number of online news sources.
