The "A Team" - #FollowFriday our April volunteers!


This week we are featuring Tweeters that are coming to Peru this April.  Our April line-up is very impressive!  Be sure to #FollowFriday these great people!  One of our participants, @Jack_Harvey may not be able to make the trip as their sponsorship donations have fallen short.  Please read about Jack below and consider helping him out so he can join his wife Nikka with us in Peru!

Amanda Brown
Dr. Brown is a "virtual vet."  As her website explains, "This is the story of a fictional veterinarian in Philadelphia.  Besides having access to Amanda Brown, DVM's Facebook,YouTube and Twitter pages.  You can also contact her and creators Phil Barnes and Hillary Israeli directly at generationvet@gmail.com..  Amanda Brown, DVM, is virtually committed to traveling to Peru.  We can’t wait to read about her adventures "with" the team! 

Jessica AKA "Dr. V"
The Pawcurious blog was founded in 2009. The blog tackles humorous, educational, and touching topics as Dr. V wrestles with dogs, cats, and emotions in the day to day drama of life with pets. Dr. V cannot provide specific medical advice or diagnose pets over the web.  Her blog won 2 awards: Petties: 2010 Best Pet Blog; and Bloggies: Finalist, 2010 Best New Blog and Best Blog Design.   She is very well know around Twitter and Facebook We are excited to have Dr. V joining Amazon CARES on our April trip!  Director Molly has had the pleasure of meeting Dr. V at two BlogPaws conferences, and is thrilled to have such a nice and fun-loving girl on this trip!

Patrick Mahaney
Dr. Patrick Mahaney is  Veterinarian specializing  in innovative pain management – making your pets as comfortable as you would like to be; a spokesperson and an advocate for nontraditional pet care, Amazon CARES will have the privilege of having Dr. Patrick working in Iquitos helping animals  He will also be providing a seminar to local veterinarians about veterinary medicine, including acupuncture and holistic medicine for pets.  We are thrilled to have a NEW social media outlet, as Dr. Mahaney plans to vBlog his daily activities (of course, there is a small problem with a lack of Internet access in some parts of the jungle....  Check him out on Facebook too!

Ruff Road Ahead
Is the twitter page for @jack_harvey and @itsnikka and their long road to Peru to aid neglected animals with Amazon CARES.  Nicole Harvey, or Nikka as many know her has a missionary history across the ocean in Taiwan, where she taught English and Bible Studies to students ages 5 thru adult. Taiwan is a place where street dogs are prevalent, and Nikka’s heart for animals would always break at the sight of frequent animal abuse, neglect or worse.

Today, Nikka is a Positive Dog Trainer, Certified AKC CGC Evaluator, Wildlife Rehabilitator and owner of Zoo Mommy Pet Care @zoomommy. Nikka is also continuing her education and obtaining a degree as a Veterinary Technician. Animals are her passion and providing the best for them is what she strives to accomplish everyday.
